Hip-hop dancers confront an AI that reinterprets their movements in real time. In addition, Freedom City dancers collaborate with coders from Creative Coding Utrecht with live-coded music and visuals, where every movement influences the rhythm and image. From Krump to Breaking, ending with a freestyle jam.

Later that afternoon, there will be an ode to the ballroom scene, full of flair and queer expression. A live-coded translation of ballroom beats invites you to move. The day ends with a From Scratch Session: a blank screen, raw code, total freedom.

⁠Block 1: 15:00 - 16:00

⁠A radical crossover between hip hop and technology bringing dance, AI, and live coding together on stage. In Stable_Bodied, dancers Mick Bakker and Maika Sontrop, together with artist Cris Mollee, engage in direct interaction with AI. Their movements are not only recorded, but also reshaped by an algorithm. A translation of physical expression into digital imagery, giving rise to new forms of movement.

In Flow State, dance and code come together in a series of freestyle sessions. Dancers from Freedom City respond to live-coded beats, visuals, and sounds created by artists from Creative Coding Utrecht. From krump to breaking, every style is given space, culminating in a joint freestyle jam!

With contributions from Timo Hoogland, TyPpo, Lil Bleep, and others, a performance emerges that is not fixed, but created on the spot. Exciting, experimental, and above all, always in motion.

Block 2: 16:45 - 17:15

We pay tribute to the ballroom scene: a world of flair, freedom, and queer expression. Ballroom Beats Reinterpreted translates the energy of this culture to the present day, with live-coded music, visuals, and dance. A visual and auditory tribute in which algorithmic beats make room for self-expression and movement. Everyone is welcome on the floor.

We conclude with a From Scratch Session, in which anything is possible. The screens are blank, the code is created live, the beats are raw. In seven minutes, performers build something new from scratch, accompanied by the MC who takes the audience along in the process.

With contributions from Lil Bleep, Nikilia, and dancers from the Utrecht Ballroom Scene, a performance full of risk, spontaneity, and improvisation emerges. Where stumbling and getting stuck are also part of the magic!
